Your wildlife sightings

Dormouse in deck chair

We would like you to send in your wildlife sightings, whether it is a common garden species or a rare fungus! We are interested to know about all records of wildlife. If you are a specialist recorder or group and have a large amount of data that you would like to contribute to our records then we would also be interested to hear from you.

Find out  more information about what we do with your records.

For a wildlife record to be valid and for us to be able to enter it onto our databases, there are four things we need to know.........

The Four W’s:

        1. WHO you are. Your details i.e. your name, address and postcode.
        2. WHAT wildlife you have seen.(Want help working out what you have seen?)
        3. WHERE you saw it. We need to know as much about this as possible e.g. a description of the site and if possible a grid reference.
        4. WHEN you saw it. The date you saw it, including the year.

Find out more about the four W's and how to record wildlife.

We may contact you to ask for more details about your record, to ask you to describe what you saw or to ask if you took a photograph.  This is part of our record verification process, where we check that the identification is correct.  We may also contact National or local experts, to ask for their opinion on species that are rare or difficult to identify.
