What do we mean by 'wildlife'?

Shobrooke_park_-_veteran_sweet_chestnutWhen we talk about wildlife on this website, we mean the whole range of plants and animals that exist in the sea and on the land in Britain – fish, birds, flowering plants, fungi, mammals, reptiles, all of it! We sometimes use ‘wildlife’ to refer to the habitats that plants and animals live in and the rocks and fossils that we find in Britain as well.

DBRC holds records of a whole range of wildlife, although some groups (like butterflies) are quite well recorded whilst we hold far fewer records of other groups (like centipedes). We hold information about where the important habitats for wildlife are, what they are like and information about the best places to see our geological heritage in the County.
