Strategic Nature Area profile

Devon County Council

Strategic Nature Area profiles are reports which highlight important habitats and species and show the current extent of BAP priority habitat within certain areas of Devon.

SNA_1080Strategic Nature Areas (SNAs) are landscape scale areas of land that have been selected by Biodiversity South West as being important areas for the conservation and expansion of particular habitat types in Devon. These areas are part of the South West Nature map.

In 2008/9, DBRC was funded by Devon County Council to produce 167 SNA profiles. The aim of these profiles is to be the initial part of a process which will identify areas for potential habitat recreation/restoration at a landscape scale. It is envisaged that these initial SNA profiles will be passed to local experts who will use their local knowledge to fine tune the reports and add information on nature conservation objectives and restoration targets.
