Otter spotters
We have over 3,500 records of otters on our database, all collected by Operation Otter Surveyors – ‘Otter Spotters’ .
We like all new ‘Otter Spotters’ to have attended a training day so that they know what signs to look for when surveying for otters but also so that they can learn about the health and safety elements of otter surveying. The next training day will be on Saturday 25th February 2012 on Exmoor. Contact us to book on.

Otters Spotters are given a stretch of river close to where they live or an area they like to visit which they will survey 4 times a year: March, June, September and December. They record spraint (otter droppings), tracks and slides as well as the habitat used by the animals. Survey forms are sent out before each survey season or you can download your survey form. Otter Spotters receive a newsletter twice a year.
